tic duo of Meg Pohlod and Anna Newman, creates community-focused, accessible art using repurposed materials. Their work often incorporates discarded objects like shipping cartons, found photographs, and textiles, each marked by history and wear. This focus on the life cycle of materials shapes their creative process, imbuing each piece with a connection to both the past and present. By giving new life and community to objects that might otherwise be overlooked, PressYess invites viewers to reflect on the stories and memories embedded within these materials, creating art that feels both personal and universally relatable. Their practice emphasizes sustainability, collaboration, and the idea that even the most humble materials can carry deep meaning when reimagined with care.
Drawing on the PressYess archive of 1000s of vintage slides, some from our own families and many many more that are found images, we will create a cozy viewing environment where visitors can watch projected slide shows, curate and project their own slide shows using vintage projectors, slide viewers, and slide carousels, and share their own slides in daily slideshow potlucks.
Family SlideShow will have seating (provided by PRESSYESS) arranged in front of a large pulldown projection screen as well as two stations where visitors can explore the PRESSYESS slide archive and load carousels and cassettes to create their own shows. The Serva Pool walls not involved in viewing will be hung with dozens of small printed found photos and snapshots.
