Humane Society of Truckee

The Humane Society of Truckee-Tahoe (HSTT) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to saving and improving the lives of pets through adoption, community spay/neuter programs, and humane education. Founded in 1994 by a group of committed volunteers, HSTT has grown from a grassroots effort into a nationally recognized animal welfare organization serving the Truckee-Tahoe region. In partnership with the Town of Truckee, HSTT opened Remy’s Rescue Animal Shelter in 2013, helping achieve a 100% save rate for adoptable homeless pets in the community while also rescuing animals from overcrowded shelters. Beyond shelter and adoption services, HSTT provides pet wellness programs, volunteer opportunities, humane education, and low-cost spay/neuter assistance throughout the Truckee and Lake Tahoe areas.
