Nevada’s Recovery and Prevention (NRAP) warmly invites you to take part in a meaningful and uplifting event in honor of National Recovery Month—our 5th Annual R5K Run/Walk & Recovery Celebration! This community-centered gathering celebrates the strength and resilience of individuals in recovery and aims to break the stigma associated with substance use and mental health challenges.
What Is National Recovery Month? Observed each September, National Recovery Month highlights the importance of treatment and mental health services, showcasing how individuals can recover and thrive. It’s a time to raise awareness, foster understanding, and recognize that recovery is possible for everyone.
About the R5K Run/Walk & Recovery Celebration NRAP’s R5K is more than just a race—it’s a celebration of healing, hope, and community. Participants are encouraged to run or walk in honor of a friend, family member, or loved one who has been impacted by substance use or mental health struggles. The course winds through Reno’s beautiful Idlewild Park, creating a scenic and welcoming space for all ages and fitness levels.
Following the race, attendees are invited to stay for a free community recovery celebration, open to everyone regardless of 5K participation.

Why Your Participation Matters By joining or supporting the R5K, you’re helping create a positive and inclusive environment for University of Nevada, Reno students who are in recovery or living substance-free. Your involvement directly supports programming that empowers these students to succeed in school and in life, while also helping NRAP reduce stigma and promote healthy lifestyle choices on campus and in the broader community.
