the last five years the Santa Cruz, CA, band has firmly planted their flag in the hardcore scene with their vicious sound and ripping live show, sharing stages around the world with Circle Jerks, Touchรฉ Amorรฉ, and Limp Bizkit, and filling slots at prominent festivals like Coachella, Sick New World, and Reading and Leeds. But with their new album, Are We All Angels, Scowl is aiming to funnel all that aggression through a more expansive version of themselves.
The album ends in a philosophical place on the closing track, โAre We All Angels,โ asking questions like, โIs this all there is?โ and ultimately putting it on the listener to decide. โItโs about the personal struggle between good & evil. It doesnโt matter how โgoodโ or โbadโ you are, there are systems that will try to rewrite your narrative no matter what you actually do,โ explains Moss, noting that punctuation on โAre We All Angelsโ has been deliberately omitted in an attempt to leave the statement open-ended.
Arriving as a standout group in the current American shoegaze renaissance, Phoenix four-pieceย Glixenย transcend all expectations of what the genre should currently look and sound like. The band creates a profoundly heavy sonic experience with their music, paying respects to their predecessors but resulting in something completely modern. An amalgamation of influences like Bjรถrk, My Bloody Valentine, Godflesh, t.A.T.u, and Hum, their sound crawls with intensity and introspection to contrast lead singer Aislinn Ritchieโs lulling vocals.

Artown: Pinyon Mountain Studios - Composition Workshop
Pinyon Mountain Studios Workshop: CompositionComposing a photographic image requires knowledge of a few basic rules. Many people don't believe the creation of art follows any rules, that rules are meant to be broken. Creating a memorable and impactful photograph without knowledge of the basic rules as a minimum is known as luck. This is not to say the rules can't be broken or invented. But without a solid foundation, it is much harder to break the rules intelligently rather than haphazardly.Learn More:ย https://www.pinyonmtnstudios.com/
first of three monumental dance parties in the streets. Weโre tootinโ all the horns for this one โ weโve got art cars, fire dancers, food trucks, art installations, activities, sweet sweet beats, the highest of vibrations, and more!
And the best part is, itโs free! Just come on down, captain!
For the first act, weโre featuring none other than SACHA ROBOTTI of the mighty Dirtybird Records. When a lil upstart hooligan camp by the name oโ ye olde Second Rodeo was deep in the midst of its first rodeo, this fella showed up and rocked the proverbial socks off the place. Times were had. Talented producer and all around class act, weโre thrilled for him to throw down 9-11pm at the plaza, aboard the good ship Edna!
Rounding out the outdoor slate are the absolute dawgs NatNotNate, Rainbow Squid, and Z.
The wheels donโt stop there, though! The afterparty churns on at the fabled Dead Ringer Analog Bar.
Weโre elated for the return of San Franciscoโs ZACKY for the afters. Fun fact: Zacky (fka R. Fentz) played one of the very first House Party events at the Dead Ringer, way back in the halcyon days of March 2019. We love Zacky and his music, and canโt wait for this historically significant reunion!
House Party regulas Teyquerisi, Jimmy Dirt, and Bridges will join in the fun.
And with that, weโre all set to depart on a most proper of evenings!
